Carlos Llano will participate in Volcano UltraMarathon 2020

Carlos Llano, a new volcano runner who seeks to expand his extensive multi-stage race list: Ultraman of Canada, Marathon des Sables, Gobi March, Ultra Africa Race, Atacama Crossing, Ironman Mallorca 70.3, Ironman of Lanzarote and Madagascar Roving Race.

Carlos Llano was, from a very young age, approving studies without great boasting. He was rather lazy and football and music was what really satisfied him. He always says that when he was going to train football he was late on purpose to avoid running with the rest, he wanted to play with the ball and his physical condition was never important.

Bad luck caused the anterior cruciate ligament and the meniscus to be broken by playing a futsal tournament at the university. After two knee operations, and as part of the rehabilitation, he started running to strengthen the muscles and be able to play football again. He started training twenty minutes for three days a week, little by little he got hooked and after a while he had already become his lifestyle and ran practically every day of the week.

By chance, he saw a report of the Marathon des Sables in Eurosport and was so excited that within a few months he was in the middle of the Sahara desert willing to run 250 km carrying a 9 kg backpack on his back. That career made him see that with perseverance, sacrifice and self-confidence he was able to do things that a short time ago he saw impossible.

He has finished, among others, the following tests: Ultraman of Canada, Marathon des Sables, Gobi March, Ultra Africa Race, Atacama Crossing, Ironman Mallorca 70.3, Ironman of Lanzarote and Madagascar Roving Race.

He considers himself a privileged person, to whom life has smiled a lot. Knowing Africa changed his life and decided to found the NGO Childhood Smile, www.ongchildhoodsmile.es, aimed at attracting resources and supporting the Wend Be Ne Do project, dedicated to the help of 326 children and 259 adults affected with the virus AIDS in Burkina Faso, the third poorest country in the world.
